1200 Gear Position Sensor

  1. Gear indicator flickers between gears, indicates the wrong gear. Often shows neutral when it's in second. Tried to get it to re learn the gears with the instructions of the t'internet, but it won't show "C" when I hold the clutch in. I'm guessing the gear sensor is properly knackered? Easy to swap? (2013 Multistrada 1200)

  2. Very easy, just need the 'special' socket, or butcher an old one with an angle grinder.

  3. No need to program it or anything? And f#£% me £120 for a sensor lol

  4. I don't believe so, just swap over. Never changed one myself but have looked into it as it seemed fairly common.
    £120 is a bit harsh!

  5. No programming needed - just make sure you do carve up a socket, and I remember seating the sensor on the thread can be a little fiddly….maybe not advisable but I wound up the sensor cable a bit to create some clockwise tension (I can’t recall why it wouldn’t seat in the thread without doing this, but it worked).

Edit: this may have been on 2015 dvt, 2013 was possibly easier. Remembering things…not so much easier.

  6. I had 3 replaced free with Ducati goodwill gestures

  7. It's a 16mm (deep) hexagon. I butchered the 16mm socket in this set to accomodate the cable and used the 18mm to drive it. Had to remove much exhaust on Hyper - no idea for your Multi...
