The cast iron discs on my darmah, which hasn't been run in years, are quite heavily corroded. It's not just light surface rust and the braking performance is pretty dire. I think I could get away with having the discs ground back to metal, but it would leave them close to the minimum thickness which I believe is 5mm and I'm struggling to find anywhere that will do them anyway. They are the 4 hole variety and replacements in this country are ridiculously expensive (circa £1K for all three discs) as far as I'm able to see any available. there are some slightly cheaper stainless versions from EBC but they don't look right to me and they're still upwards of £200 each. I've found a place called MetalGear International in Brisbane who manufacture a drilled replacement and with shipping, VAT and import duty, they still work out a lot cheaper that anything I've found in the UK. Does anyone have any experience of the Metal Gear items? Are they OK? Or is anyone aware of any closer to home which aren't quite so eye-wateringly over-priced?
. I can only help re the EBC semi floating discs which I use on my BMW. They work well and cured an issue with discs warping with other replacements. I don’t think look too modern or out of place. Sending discs to Aussi and back will be expensive, but you may save on vat if they slip past customs
There's a pair of fronts here for sale: (In France)...asking 500€ https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/equipement_moto/2377122482 PS: Give me a shout if you need a hand with the sale and shipping.
Thanks for the offer, but at that price I'd probably pay the extra for new ones. I still can't understand why these are so expensive.....
