1299 Fuel Reserve Distance

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by MotoNik, Mar 18, 2025.

  1. Hi Folks,

As a rough guideline, when riding on the road what can I approximately expect as a reserve distance when the fuel light comes on?

The light seems to be coming on around 110-120 miles, and the other day I filled up soon after and only got just over 11 litres in. So I'm guessing I might have 4 litres or so of reserve (assuming a 16 litre tank that can't be fully filled).

    Thanks in advance!

  2. the 899 is an easy 30, i just fill up every 100 or so miles, do it now without thinking, you just know it needs feeding

  3. I have an aversion to petrol stations, and it's a nuisance having to find E5!!

  4. I used to get 90 miles before the light came on then another 20 miles before i bottled it. normally still had a liter or 2 in it

  5. I made it 20 miles home from work, and there's a petrol station at the end of my road, so I guess I'll just fill up next time I go out!

  6. It would appear that no two sensors give the same reading. My Multistrada 1200 usually had 6 or 7 litres in the tank when the light came on. My girlfriend found out her Diavel had exactly 20 miles after the light came on, her 937 Monster returns 150 miles, no more and I’ve never been tempted to test my Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak. 7. Thanks Andy. I have a habit of playing "fuel light roulette" and often losing, so I'll likely base my riding habits on how many litres the tank takes when I next fill it up.

  8. The least I ever managed before completely running out on the 1299 was 10.2 miles. However that was on a trackday at Oulton Park! Easy 20 miles normal road riding, and start twitching at 30miles!...

  9. Doesn’t help having a Akra exhaust which pops and bangs when your enthusiastically open the throttle a little to much haha. Get about 95 miles on the main tank . On the way back from a track day was forced to run into reserve for 15 miles was very very easy on the throttle and was bricking it but got to a petrol station .

  10. was about to say the same, around 10 miles after lights on, but to be fair, I do twitch when I see the lights ... run out 3 time of fuel on my 848

  11. I currently get 83 miles before the light I used to get 95 when I first bought her but rarely get in to 3rd with UK speed limits and keeping her in the fun zone now I'm used to her

I have only gone 10 miles past the light and wouldn't risk much more
