Removing Pins From Wiring Connectors

  1. Does anyone know how I can remove these pins to rewire? Do I need some pin removal keys?
The wires from the coil to the connector (Ducati 749) got severed.

  2. Yes, a set of pin removal keys will do the job. I got a large set last year from Temu i think. Very cheap but there is a minimum spend so you could get some other tools etc.

  3. Thanks, will get some ordered :upyeah:

  4. Could you use a small flat headed screwdriver to push down the tang/barb (not sure of the correct terminology) on the pin while you gently pull the wire? I've done this on ISO car stereo connectors.

  5. If you use a tiny screwdriver from one of those sets, it’ll do the same as the *special key thingie* that you can buy.

  6. Looks like these need 2 prongs so a screwdriver won't do. The cheap Chinese sets are ok. You might have to grind them a bit as they're just stamped flat steel. Depending on the connector type you might need a chamfer akin to a chisel to get under the location tabs. However, the type you gave there needs a "fork" type tool. The key is not to get frustrated and yank on the wires. There is a knack to each type of connector.
