Hi does anyone know where I could locate a fuel tank for a ms1260s I only bought my bike last week private sale and the fuel tank is leaking I’ve had a new seal put in at Ducati but it’s still leaking I’m gutted thx in advance
Are you certain the tank body is the fault and not the fuel line into the tank? From your description, do you mean the left side of the tank where the fuel line clips in or at the bottom under the seat where the fuel level sensor is? I honestly can't see the tank shell cracking or splitting as its an expandable tank, so it could be a simple connection that's faulty. Got any pics? Also, if it's just fuel you're smelling rather than seeing fuel, they are a bit wiffy these tanks and the smell of fuel around the cap and pump isn't uncommon.
When the pump is sat in and tightened down and you fill it with fuel it looks like is coming from where the top of the tank meets the neck of the seat where the pump and seal go in I’ve had a new seal fitted at Ducati and I showed the mechanics put where I thought it was coming from so he put some extra sealant round around around the neck I’ve filled it up and it’s washed the sealant out and runs down the side of the tank
The only other place I can think then is the breather tubes on the filler cap, has one of them been snapped (ask me how I know)?
JESUS. Firstly, those bolts are not standard, I've got my tank off the bike and it looks as follows. I'd suggest taking that back to where ever you bought it from and don't accept the bike back until that's fixed. And not a 'quick fix' like they've tried. (just saw it's a private sell, looks like you got shafted mate. Look for a second hand pump unit).

No I’ve checked the breathers to fuel cap and all intact and working as they should it’s definitely not coming from the connection on the tank you can see the fuel coming from here circled
Yea, the pump link I've sent, if you want to try solve, I'd buy a new gasket (#4 on the parts diagram). But more importantly I'd want to know how they are mounting the clamping plate as the standard bolts screw into threaded inserts, looking at your pics, I'm very curious to see that's on the other side of those bolt threads... I'd just take the pump assembly out and inspect further.
Looks like someone may have spun the captive brass inserts in the tank and replaced them with nuts and bolts?
From memory it's quite easy to over-tighten those nuts and compromise the seal. I'd hesitate on a new tank and try to get it fixed.
I’ve looked at three other tanks and they are all the same as the one I have the pump unit bolts down into studs
