You could try Cornmarket, they were the most cost effective for my Panigale V4 Speciale but I do know their panel has been affected by the withdrawal of a couple of underwriters. Ask for a quote from Ageas. Andy
Took my new Rally out for a proper shake down scratch round Southern Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway Forrest. Mucho fun was had in glorious sunshine.
Did a “dry clean” with Muk Off for the first time. Was actually quite impressed with the results, even on weeks old dead flies.
Hyper booked in for April MOT (+ sad laugh about how few miles I did in the last year) Primary chaincase cover off the 50yr-old Bonnie, chasing the elusive oil leak (again!)...
Had a call to say my bike is ready to collect. I have tomorrow booked off work and the weather looks like it's going to be perfect . Happy days .
Fitted new chain and rear sprocket to the zed.... Had a sprocket carrier bearing on the worktop for quite literally years. Built the bearing press up and fitted that. Did an oil change as well. Sunday job will be taking off the winter tyres, 4 years old now.... Trash those and refit my supercorsas.
Unplanned day trip down south today and, as I was passing Motorapido, figured be stupid not to pop in and source the side stand bracket bolts. Nice to be recognised by Craig, good chat and showed me what I needed, he didn’t have the exact bolt but did have another so hence it to me. Chucked my leg over a V4 multi…
A wonderful thunderous 100 odd miles yesterday. Leathers for the first time this year yesterday. Back to textiles for the weekend I reckon .
After riding yesterday on the GS (Didn't take any pics) it was the MT's chance today. Now washed , oil+ filter service and chain lubed.
Went green-laning on the Gas Gas, got some air over a jump and upon landing the chain snapped and the front sprocket popped off the shaft, never to be seen again. Started pushing it the approx 2 miles back home and then it started pissing it down. Joy Edit: I just had a proper look and the chain hasn’t snapped after all, but the sprocket is definitely awol.
Took the Tuono Factory for its MOT, the guy came out of the workshop to ask if I knew I had no back brake action at all...doh!, never use it because it's never there He said I know it's an Aprilia but it should show some brake pressure a quick brake bleed and it showed enough to pass, you've got to love Italian design
Started 999 after standing approx 6 months. Started right up... pleasantly surprised.... (It's not on a battery tender) Tidied rest of garage, so I can have a bit of space to prep bikes for spring... I'm determined to do more riding this year. And bought a replacement Dainese jacket secondhand identical to the one I've worn out. Oh...and I cut the grass too...at one point had the mower on two wheels...so it still counts as "bike things" ....a good day by all accounts.
I’ve had another look again this morning and I think I’ve worked out what happened. I had something secured to the seat with a few bungees, one of which is missing and there are bits of elastic shrapnel in the area where the sprocket had been and the footrest bracket. I reckon that when I landed the jump and the rear suspension compressed, the bungee cord touched and was severed by the tyre or maybe the chain, then it got entangled in the chain and was dragged into the sprocket guard, which forced it off the shaft. The escaping sprocket also left a deep gouge in the gearbox casing, so I was quite lucky not to lose a toe or two
