Garage Refurbishment

  1. Beautiful dog :upyeah:

    Nice garage transformation too.

  2. :joy::joy::joy: Be careful, she, and her friends, may covet it even more now. Get decent locks...

Very jealous of all your pristine garages. Mine is a single car affair, away from property curtilage so no power, concrete floor etc. However, it's a garage. Lived for far too long without one. Speculatively looking at properties with partner at the moment, if it doesn't have a garage then it's a no-go from me which she finds annoying. She does want a separate room for her business though...

  6. Got me worried now looking into barbed wire possibly electrified - airing on the side of caution
Good luck in the property search - thankfully many years back my long suffering wife met me when I had my bike in the front room ((ahh great times).

  12. Lovin' all the garage build pics. The main point is that you end up with an environment that is better than the one in which you started, as that makes spannering on your bike/s that little bit more enjoyable. I've spent an inordinate amount of my life working in damp, dark and miserable spaces on old classic cars as a youngster, then latterly bikes of various descriptions, so having the opportunity to work in a clean, dry well lit space, has always been a goal for me and I am lucky that after so many years it's finally a reality, that I never take for granted. Mine is devoid of any superflous crap that I don't need or use on a regular basis by choice (save for the winter months when all the garden furniture and other stuff is stored in there to protect it from the ravages of the weather), so some may see it as a waste of space, but that's what the shed is for. With Spring just around the corner, it was extremely satisfying to hoik everything back outside this week and return to the normal status quo.

  15. Looking great Rod

  16. Look forward to seeing the dream garage

  17. Thanks Gaffa. It is "Racedeck" flooring. Do a search on the forum. It has been covered many times in numerous threads. Ceiling lights are LED downlighters (32 of them) so it's very bright. There are additional hidden LEDS in the alcove above the workbench and in the helmet cabinet, as well as in the understairs cupboard (LH door in previous image). It is not the best picture quality, as it's just a screenshot from one of the security cameras

  18. It’s a structural raft foundation, I removed a large leylandi hedge so didn’t want to dig footings as they would have to be pretty deep.
The slab is 200mm deep round the edge and 150mm in the middle, the concrete is fibre reinforced.
It was designed by structural engineer and signed off by building inspector :)

I like concrete, the house is built with ICF so that has 48 tonnes of concrete in the walls

  19. I like the sound of that. I’ve just put in for planning permission to build a garage, a big one, one that I can spend many hours in. That might be a good way to go, thanks.
