(Probably should have posted this here first) Hello all. I am doing my first ever "big ride" to the south of France in June and wanted to try some saddle bags on my 2016 Diavel. I purchased these: https://www.xlmoto.co.uk/product/xl...Y5o-YMo8MTQinV3noUxUlPHEKv3a3WzmevxemYekCQXI2 But am struggling to make them fit. I think I can probably get them to work with some fiddling. Rather than spending 500 pounds on a SHAD system, does anyone know of a way to fit some universal saddle bags to a Diavel? I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thanks.
Probably need to fit something like these to support the bags. Not cheap but at least you know the bags will be secure and safe. Years ago i knew someone whose bags ended up in the back wheel with tragic consequences. https://www.hepco-becker.de/en/c-bow-sidecarrier-for-ducati-diavel-1260-s-2019.html
I use SW Motech Blaze saddle bags on the 899. Excellent and only a tiny plate left on bike under seat when luggage off. Givi also do similar but no idea if they do them for the Diavel. Also use various Kriega bags for shorter trips on the Pani.
The one i linked above seems to be pretty solid with a couple bungie cables wrapped around it. It doesn't hang so low that I think getting wrapped in the wheels would be an issue.
This: https://sw-motech.co.uk/products/pr...80d-ballistic-nylon-50-litre-black-anthracite Used on S1r and rear seat of GS. Very secure. Waterproof inner bag (and it is) plenty space. Reasonable price.
My wife uses these, no real need for the frame option as they sit comfortably and firmly on the bike, no movement and really easy to get on and off. https://www.givi.co.uk/givi-product...cles-and-scooters/motorcycle-side-bags/ea101c
Sadly your options are limited with the Diavel. We spent many years touring with me carrying her luggage whilst she had the Ducati rear seat box for essentials. In more recent years having moved from the Diavel to a Monster, the Kreiga Dry Packs have proved very versatile which take a little ingenuity to secure the straps to the seat pad but easy enough if you are a bodger like me Andy
