  1. I have new belts and bearings for the above. Does anybody have the tensioner nut torque settings pls. I usually use the Allen key method to tension the belts on the 900ss but I thought I'd give the gates app a go on this. Anyone have the Hz setting?.
    TIA.

  2. My memory is telling me, recent posts in a “belts” thread, suggest the App is inconsistent. Andy

  3. I can see how it could be open to inconsistencies...maybe I'll stick with what has worked previouslly on the SS but try the app and see how it compares.

  4. My memory says 22Nm for the tensioner nuts but you may want to check that.

  5. Tensioner nut torque is 26nm according to the manual but, you'll struggle to get a torque wrench on the vertical (with the engine in the frame).

I just do it by feel so that it's about the same as the horizontal, which is pretty much as tight as I can get using a small 1/4" drive socket that fits in the gap.

  6. Brilliant,
    Thank you

  7. 110Hz if using that method

  8. Or Radio 4

    Sorry.

  9. 110hz new belts
    90hz old belts tension check

  10. Nice one.
    Thank you.

  11. You want a crows foot spanner that has a 3/8 or 1/2” drive hole, and make sure that your torque wrench is 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the application of force.

These are the ones I used for doing my belt nuts:

  12. Agreed but I've never been bothered enough to think in advance to get one, not had it come undone yet so probably won't bother now either.

  13. I had mine for a year anticipating doing my belts, but they also came in handy on some of the more unreachable bolts on my VW camper engine.

  14. I do have access to those spanners.
    Great idea
