There appear to be two part codes for carbon belly pans on the 998 range, namely 48011241A (coming up as compatible for EU versions of the 998S/998S Bayliss & Bostrom, 998 SFE, 998) and 48010931A (coming up as compatible for US versions of 998S Bayliss & Bostrom, 996R I and II, 998R). The mounting points on both are positioned the same. However, the 48011241A has an (extra) elevated mounting point on the back left which appears to bolt directly unto the engine case (next to the stand mounting point). Comparison pictures of both is/are attached for reference. Any clues as to why? At first, it doesn’t appear to be a deep sump related solution/creation of necessity.
It will have something to do with the USA models not having the deep sump motor as it didn't meet their emissions requirements.
I think there were a total of 3 versions of belly pan for the 998S with the 3rd locating point being different. There’s a couple of threads about it on here… Last time I think it was mentioned was in Ben’s 998R restoration thread.
