Thames Valley Poi .

Discussion in 'Touring' started by ymfb, Mar 24, 2025.

  1. I find myself visiting the Thames Valley with old friends who have travelled far and wide to get to a place where we can meet.

This is somewhere I know very little about so I’m interested in POIs that are in the region, roughly between Abingdon & Reading. Motorbike friendly museums, dealers, cafes anything that isn’t too cultured that might interest your average 60 yo bloke.

    Thanks in advance

  2. H cafe along the 13 bends of death used to be a chill spot for a cheap greasy spoon. Not sure if it's there anymore.

  4. I’d carry further on and go to the Riverside place.

  5. I know the area well, always glad to drive through or avoid it totally :D If you like steam trains, there's this, https://didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/...7GfBBnjPdkxb_6Ft3EYuL2djkntXfJr4aAgepEALw_wcB and they have a reasonable cafe. Andy

  6. Thanks for replying, but it seems the H Cafe is not the place to eat, but that’s a fairly common theme with biker cafes, sad isn’t it.

  7. IME and MO, the H Cafe falls somewhat below the very low standard set by Loomies. Andy

  8. H Cafe ok for a cuppa and a browse at accessories in Infinity which is literally next door.
The place @bradders means is this. Biker friendly. Good food. Nice place to be.

Henley on Thames is nice for a wander.

  9. Very good description! H for me was a stop off on a Sunday morning ride back in the day for a coffee, or if hungover, a plate of grease. It did the job but I never expected much from H cafe

  10. We stayed at Dorchester on Thames so rode by the H cafe, sadly the Aston Martin museum was closed. We rode to Brooklands Museum, which was excellent. Thanks for the suggestions, The Classic Motor Hub is still to be done.
