Has anyone done a Dyno on the MT 1200s? If so is it worth it? I have a decat bike with Leovince end can and I'm not sure if the previous owner did it. I'm wandering if I should. Finally does anyone know a decent one around or outside the greater London area> thanks
If you notice hunting on light throttle and maybe hesitation then it's possible the last owner didn't get it remapped. A good map will get rid of all of that without necessarily adding more power. You can get a flash tune but individual mapping will always be better. Can't help with a dyno on London though.
I had a Leo Vince decat on a 2012 Multistrada for several years on the OE ECU but you must retain the original O2 sensors. I eventually had a remap, which released the beast but the downside was the increased fuel consumption. Andy
Is it worth it? Not really imo. Unless it’s a before/after scenario with hardware. And on the same dyno of course. But this is purely if you’re curious about what power it’s making. That said, a quality custom map is always good.
I think it'll depend on what you're looking for. If it's more top end power, you'll not gain much, if any real world difference. However, if you're looking to smoothen the low-mid range, it's a transformation.
The only ‘essential’ reason is if you fear BOOM event because the mix is all wrong with a can/decat/filter or whatever upgrades done. A simple flash seems to cost £350-400 where a full map about £500. Imho I’d go full remap for the extra few quid bit will be smoother, probably make more power in midrange. (Ime) and remove that annoying 3-4k blip most modern bikes have. Can’t help with London. Think Dave Woods over Oxford way still does them, don’t know about Steve Jordan (Suzuki dealer??) south London, used to race Ducatis and rune them
Can anyone recommend a dyno/remapping service in Scotland/N England (the REAL North that is)? I've often thought of using CJS, but a 600 mile round trip into Englandshire doesn't particularly appeal!
I have some backfiring when decelerating but generally the bike is good enough for what I use it for. I'm not really looking for top end speed cause really after 130mph unless you're on the autoban is risky. But I'm always up for a smoother ride. and if the difference is noticeable, I wouldn't mind doing a full remap. Steve Jordan looks pretty good. thanks for the input.
Was that on the one I have now or your track bike Andy? I have noticed mine has a lot more oomph than a mates which is in theory the same, but also noticed it does drink a bit. We tried each others back to back and both agreed the pick up in particular on mine was noticeably better. The extra fuel is more than worth it if that’s the trade off. His is a 2011 one with 15,000 miles covered but several owners so his knowledge of the history is very limited.
If mine drinks more than it does now, I'll have to ride with a petrol tanker next to me at all the times.
It was the one you have now in the early days but eventually, I couldn’t be doing with the noisy exhaust. Fast forward 20,000 miles and post engine rebuild the bike spent a day on the dyno bring run in and getting a bespoke map to go with the Arrow system Andy
