Just picked this up today 2000 996.. pretty standard and a little tired but was a relative bargain.. got some plans to change a few bits.. wheels, mono seat and some Termis!
Thanks for sorting those pics! so got the bike home late yesterday, had new belts fitted this morning and then put it through MOT this afternoon which it passed with an exhaust advisory just wait til they test my V4 all in all I’m mega happy with this bike, it’s 99.9% standard and it’s a very honest, unmolested example!
- 996 model year 1999: bronze frame and bronze 3 spokes wheels. - 996 model years 2000-2001: silver frame and silver 5 spoke wheels. Yours looks like it’s got the wrong wheels.
I think we can take older ducati specs with a pinch of salt.. either way I’d like some 5 spokes for it at some point.
Sorry @Jonny4891. I may have sounded like a smart ass. That was not the intent. I was merely reacting to you writing « it’s 99.9% standard and it’s a very honest, unmolested example ». By 1999, with TPG having taken management over at Ducati, model specs had already been pretty much squared up. What you refer to applies to the « Cagiva era » bikes, up to 1998 (916 & early 748s). Given the wheels to frame type/color mismatch, I thought you may not know the two 996 model years sequence. Just trying to help. Once I confirmed the model year with Ducati Bologna ([email protected]), which can be different from 1st registration year, I would definitely switch back to the original frame color matched 5-spokes wheels. Also, as it has a biposto tail and rear frame, and as @cookster mentioned, I would put the passenger pegs back on. Can come handy when one of your mates’ Honda brakes down during a weekend group ride.
