Hi all, Would anybody know if the Evotech hand guards fit the 2017 1200? They are only listed for the 1260 and I wondered if there was any difference between the two models handle bar set ups. Thanks Chris.
No difference in the handlebar department between the 1200 and 1260, except for the heated grips (1260 ones much better). So aftermarket handguards will fit. I have a set of Barkbusters which I took off my old 1200 and fitted on my 1260.
I put Ducabike ones on the 1200S DVT. They work well, as the standard parts are quite vulnerable and fragile. I have Evotech ones on the GS and they’re good too. The Ducabike ones were more in keeping with the Multi.
Great I was going to ask for a photo. Do they protect the indicator area as I have to park as close to the garage wall as possible and I caught the indicator a few times on my previous bike once the steering lock is on and it's lent over. Obviously not too much of an issue when on center stand....
I had these on both my DVTs, they definitely help with small knocks (car wing mirrors) but in a fall, whilst they help, they will not totally save the hand guard and clutch/brake reservoirs (which don’t break but the mount usually will). Barkbusters are probably the safest measure but less attractive. You can get Chinese copy versions online if you don’t want to buy the real thing.
Great, thanks for advice. I think I will go with the Evotech ones as their stuff is usually top notch.
I’ve found them to be perfect for the garage wall type situation. Twin4Me likely right about a fall but the handguards are both fragile and brittle, they might break anyway.
