I replaced the OE Pirelli Diablo Corsa IV’s on my V4 Pikes Peak at the 600 miles service with a pair of the Roadtec 02’s. I did a 4 day tour of north Somerset and Devon on the 02’s in pretty wet and sketchy conditions and didn’t gel with them either. Sizes are 120/70 ZR 17, date stamped 06/24 and a 190/55 ZR 17, date stamped 02/24, both only done the miles on the Somerset trip. The rear has several small, shallow cuts in the rubber from the flints, typical on Somerset and Devon roads but nothing that causes any concern to me. Ideally, I’d prefer collection from the Reading/Newbury/Basingstoke area (M4 Js 11, 12 & 13, M3 Js 6 & 7) £150. Andy
Interesting comments here Android. I've been talking with Lee from EMJ who does a lot of bike tyre testing and fitting, including test riding on tracks and the like and he absolutely raves about the 02 being just about the best tyre for sports touring bikes and riding. So much so, that he has strongly suggested I hang on for the 02 version when the front tyre size for the V4 is more readily available, instead of fitting the 01 version, which I had previously on my 1260 and really liked riding on/with. Tyres are always a very personal choice, however, your thoughts are quite interesting!
I have earned I have earned a reputation for pushing the front as evidenced by the stepping after as little as 2500/3000 miles. My thoughts on reflection, is my experience is probably more to do with the extra 40kg the V4 is over my 1200. I am currently enjoying M7RR's My plan is to go back to the 01SE for a fairer comparison. Andy
