So BAH003 is 139 plus the vat... 2x SKF W60072RS1 are 92 each plus the vat (apologies for the font) copy and pasting.... Needle bearing 12.43
Back to the normal font...so at this point im totally confused....if i can do it for under 150 then ill order all of the bearings....if it costs more, then ill pull it apart first (which i will probably do first for a dry run)
My post #8, the first link is the OE bearing, £140+vat, second link for the alternate option bearing, you need to click ‘Ball Bearing’, SKF 60072 RS1, £13.50+vat (x2), third link, Torrington needle roller, £12.43+vat. You need either links 1 & 3 or links 2(x2) & 3. Andy
Right ok so 1x Torrington needle roller. And the second option (yeah why not use 2 bearings) i cant see it making any difference... so thats SKF 60072 RS1, £13.50+vat - definately more palatable...!
Yes, that's who I used. I think the double race bearing is better for radial loads rather than using two ball races (which is what came out of the hub)
Ok - so not a total loss today....other half went to fat club for a couple of hours so I thought I'd do a dry run as it were. All good. 1. My car trolly jack works a reat under the swing arm. 2. My circlip pliers work. 3. I now understand the bearing setup.....so there's one roller bearing and one big bearing...so that big bearing on the sprocket side is 2? 4. And the roller bearing on the right hand side is one? The concentric hub was in really good condition...looked almost like new. I cleaned out and greased swing arm...but its still quite stiff. Hard to tell from a wear point of view though but my press will get the bearings out dead easy...if I do replace them...
I've never greased through hub in the swingarm, but unlike you guys I don't go out in crap weather. Just wondering out loud if it affects the friction between the hub and arm, allowing it to rotate with the tension on the chain. None of my bikes were greased by ducati from new..
Meh - its such a tight tolerance most of the grease gets pushed out....doesnt seem right leaving it completely dry but thats just me....
Did you unblock the drain hole in the swing arm that is under the eccentric hub ? On the Multistrada, it was suggested opening the drain hole up to better drain any water that gets in to the swing arm casting. Probably a bit late with this, sorry. Andy
Thats ok...good to know though....having never taken it apart before it didnt take that long....about 15 mins or so...lots of cerakoting opportunities to be had i think....
