Would someone be kind enough to shed some light on the model these rear seat fairings have come from please? My thought is that the red is a 916 Strada or early 916 & the yellow from a 748? Thanks in advance
I have an SPS and I think it actually has 748 SPS written on the side at the bottom. I don't have the seat on the bike, but can check if you really want to know.
The yellow has no written decals on the side which is why I was unsure. It’s dated September 94. The red is dated August 94
Both could be from a 916 Strada which you could buy in red or yellow. The 748SP was launched in 1995, which, given Ducati’s legendary “parts bin” assembly strategy, the yellow seat could be an SP. I’ve not been able to establish if the gold pinstripe was 916 and 748SP or just SP. Andy
I have an SPS and the gold pinstripe was left on for those model years. Looking at my SPS, most of the parts were made in 1998 with a few in 1997, although the bike was registered in late 1999.
Another tail ID question... Sorry for the addition question in your thread... I'm wanting convert my 996S (2001) back to fully stock..I know the 996S had it's own decals on the tail, but can anyone say with reasonable certainty the colour of the pinstripe? I suspect it is metallic grey like the frame and 5-spoke wheels, but it is impossible to be sure from online photos. Cheers Grant
