Cherry Tree Pruning

  1. An arborist said he was going to take the middle section out of the tree. Reading into pruning a tree like this, I think i need to remove a lot more and had i asked exactly how much he may have said more specifically. quoted about £400 for the work but I've already made a start and am quite capable of cutting myself. I just want to make sure I'm cutting the right bits.

It hasn't blossomed well and it's probably because it's over crowded.

Anyone on here done much of this or could advise on how far to cut back?

    Magnolia is looking lovely though!

  2. Made an attempt today after a night shift and I'm climbing the tree a bit too high so called it for today. Plenty left to do but I think I'll need to buy a pole saw to do it more safely

  5. I saw the title of the thread and thought that it would be about care homes NOT actually trees!

    Me is odd!!

  6. Slow progress, but I'm getting there. Opened up a lot and all that remains is the very top to thin out. Picture shows how much dead branches and branches growing into each other has been removed.

Funny thing is, looks like i havnt even touched the tree from this angle. 20250404_161025.jpg

  8. Thanks, watched a similar video prior to starting. Other than maybe doing this at the wrong time (although it's not winter) I think I'm on the right path
