Not Bike Related. The Difference Between Xt60i And Xt60 Connectors

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Android853sp, Apr 7, 2025.

  1. I have two inverter batteries, one with an XT60 (yellow) charging socket and one with an XT60i (orange) charging socket. The only visible difference is the XT60i has an extra contact. I need to make up a 3m extension lead but can only find male and female XT60 connectors.

AI and the internet have gone dumb on me but one link inferred the inverter battery detects how many amps it can draw depending on the charging source, a car battery or a solar panel. The amount of amps it will take from a car battery is limited to a maximum of 6 amps (XT60) and the solar panel, if it’s capable of delivering, up to 12 amps (XT60i).

My 45W solar panel puts out just under 2 amps (max) so my theory is I can safely use an extension cable with the XT60 connectors for both batteries.

    Does this sound correct ?

The XT60i is a modified version of the standard XT60 connector, featuring a higher current rating (100A vs 60A) and an additional locking pin for a more secure connection, often used with newer EcoFlow power stations like the RIVER 2/DELTA 2 series.
    Here's a more detailed comparison:

    Feature
    XT60
    XT60i

    Current Rating
    60 Amps
    100 Amps
    Connector Type
    Standard XT60
    Modified XT60 with locking pin
    Color
    Typically black or silver
    Typically orange
    Compatibility
Older EcoFlow models (e.g., RIVER/DELTA series)
Newer EcoFlow models (e.g., RIVER 2/DELTA 2 series)
    Additional Features

    Integrated diode (for some applications)
    Use Cases
General high-current connections, older EcoFlow devices
High-current connections, newer EcoFlow devices, solar panels

    Key Differences and Considerations:
    • Current Capacity:
The XT60i is designed to handle higher currents, making it suitable for applications that demand more power, such as newer EcoFlow power stations.
    • Locking Pin:
The additional locking pin on the XT60i provides a more secure connection, reducing the risk of accidental disconnection during use.
    • EcoFlow Compatibility:
While XT60 cables might work with some newer EcoFlow models, the XT60i is specifically designed for and recommended for newer EcoFlow power stations like the RIVER 2 and DELTA 2 series.
    • Charging Speed:
Some users have reported that the XT60i allows for faster charging with compatible EcoFlow devices.
    • Anti-Reverse Connection:
Some XT60i connectors have an anti-reverse connection function, which can prevent users from accidentally reversing the positive and negative polarity when connecting the power supply to the device.
    • Solar Panel Compatibility:
XT60i connectors are commonly used for connecting solar panels to EcoFlow power stations.

  4. Thank you Chris. The amps in the document I read are much lower than the information you found and considerably lower than the output of my solar panel so I don’t think I have anything to concern me. I did see the connectors on Amazon but the male has some weird 90° rotated pins. I spoke to Ecoflow and they said they don’t make any cables to let me use my solar panel with my Delta nor a cable to extend the distance between the solar panel and my Delta 2. In hindsight, the easiest route is to go with a cable with a DC5521 male one end and a DC5521 female at the other. Thank you for your help. Andy
