Ah ok I see. I’ll measure the distance between the holes. This looks like it might work, but doesn’t say how big the prongs are that go in the holes https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D9LDX...d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams
I’m not sure that will work, it’s the other (black) end that needs gripping. I was lucky, I heard a thread go and managed to get the nut off. I can’t think of any other way apart from cutting off the black slider, which should leave the spindle exposed, gripping it with some pliers and twisting the red side off.
The only other thing would be to get a socket on the black end and pull the slider towards you as you try to undo it. You might be lucky and get it to catch a thread. I’d try this first as it’s likely the nut has stripped and could be an easy fix.
I guess that if that stops the whole thing turning, it could be enough to then get some purchase on the nut on the black side??
Don’t write the red part off. Someone with a lathe could help. An old ring spanner (or old socket) could be machined to fit and bonded in place to form the captive nut holder. There is some really strong bearing bond or heat up the red part and use friction fit.
Not trying to be a cleaver twat, but the instructions say tighten to 8 Nm, don't see how that could strip a thread unless the threaded bar is absolute . It also says the outer bobbin should spin even when tight, so will be hard to hold that tight to undo it. Cut it off, Evotech should be giving you a replacement anyway.
I tried the tool, and it didn’t work. Luckily I covered the wheel, as it slipped as soon as I turned the nut on the black bung, despite holding it firmly.
From the black side, with a regular socket. I’ve just spoken to a mate, he’s got a strap wrench, so says he should be able to get it off with that, without damaging the bobbin.
I’ll be interested to see how that works. If the nut is spinning on the axle, you might struggle. If the nut doesn’t grab, I can only think you need to find a way to lock the spindle, so you can get the red end to spin off. There’s various ways you could do this, but I can’t think of one that won’t need you to buy a new one to replace it.
