I thought i had finished with sports bikes long ago, but i had the option to get a second bike this year. I bought a 2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200R to Mod and ride 2 up with the Mrs. My other bike was a Speed Triple 1200RS. I Traded the triple in for a Panigale 1299 last weekend. Only had a couple of rides so far and the position is taking a bit of getting used to again. I have had a few Ducatis, all naked except for a Pani 899 years ago. I had a SFV4S a couple of years ago. Great bike but i still prefer the V twin to be honest. Ordered an Oberon clutch slave (as i do on all my previous Ducatis) as the clutch is heavy. These things are just a work of art - love looking at it in the garage.
Nice, I have a Speed Triple 1200RR, it’s flawed but I still enjoy riding it. I’ve also got a 899, the 899 is the one with real character
The 1200RR would be my perfect machine if they gave it a sports tourer riding position. As it is, when I sat on one, it felt much less comfortable and less balanced a riding position than even my 749R. A great shame.
yeah, tbh if it had literally 20mm higher and closer bars it would be fine, and a softer more compliant ride, the valving in the suspension is way too aggressive and the suspension modes are compromised because of it
This all day long, biased obviously Congratulations and enjoy your 1299. I have a 30mm clutch slave upgrade and it really helped, and after 4k miles in 6 months I can do 120 mile rides without full crippling pain so you get used to it
Get the not so comfort seat if it does not have one. Makes the centre of gravity shift slightly forward and you don’t move around as much on braking etc. defo improved the bike for me and I was sceptical before buying one.
