Have to be honest this will be getting most of my attention over MGP this weekend. Will be recording the latter to catch up on. Fuel flow restrictions/reductions handed out to Dewcatee and the beemers ahead of one of the best rounds of the year. https://www.crash.net/wsbk/news/106...eductions-two-manufacturers-ahead-dutch-round
Is the fuel flow restriction just applied to the races or practice and qualification as well ? I find it a trifle ironic, after his criticism of the performance advantage he thought Ducati had, Toprac’s performance has got the BMW restricted as well. Didn’t see that coming Andy
No idea Andy I don’t know how 0.5 of a something or other to do with fuel is going to equal things out but you know the way it goes these days…. do well and we’ll restrict you. Doesn’t bode well for those already struggling on the ducs and beemers though.
The rate of fuel flow is restricted to 47kg/hour, which is about 37 litres/hour. Roughly, at Assen, they’ll have about 19.75 litres for the race. The penalty will reduce that amount by about 0.4 litre. Doesn’t sound like much but maybe 3 or 4 miles less fuel. Andy
The Ducati is but maybe making Toprak’s BMW competitive last time out involved turning the wick up Andy
Decent start from Bautista, other ducs barring Ianone struggling https://www.crash.net/wsbk/results/1067172/1/2025-dutch-worldsbk-friday-practice-results
I forgot it started at 9:30 so caught up on D+ with a coffee. Can’t believe how much more enjoyable the free practice was to watch without any commentary Andy
Fuel flow rate and fuel capacity aren’t the same thing. The limit is a ‘maximum flow’ limit, so they could have 100litres and wouldn’t make a performance difference. I guess they can work out where on the lap the fuel demand is the most, and maybe put a few less litres in the tank but that’s the relationship, not actually how much they have.
Well that was easy lol Funny how they were talking about how great Honda were doing getting to top 5 when there must have been more than 5 riders ahead crashed. So top 10 at best - exactly where they. Normally are
The ducati fanboys will sleep well tonight (except the Alvaro ones again lol). The rest of us have just woken up.
You might go as far as to say it’d be a blessed relief getting them all across onto supersport bikes right now (as has been touted).
Looking back on it now it probably came from that move Petrucci pulled on AB, his head looked like it went after that.
Not sure why I got a dislike for this but it’s proven to be correct and might make things a bit more interesting at the front!
Sorry Andy, but I think your calc or your statement is wrong. I think fuel weighs around 0.75 kg per litre so if they were allowed 47kg per hour, then wouldn’t that equate roughly to 63 litres per hour?
