My Lad has a Husky 250 FC, 2014 T'other day at Drumclog it crapped out. Running rough, cutting out, bogging down. It is annoying as we are pretty good on the cleaning and maintenance and when she goes she goes well. Field stripped the fuel tank and pump, replaced all 3 filters, nothing. The filters were al clogged with shite, Drunclog has a lot of sand and fine dust so methoughts were that was the issue. Got home bench tested the pump, runs nicely off a wee 12v battery. I intend to blow through all the lines and get Good-Mate to check the wiring as I am not confident with electrics. So questions are: Will using a compressor to blow through all the lines damage anything? Will it have any effect on the injector? Can an EFI system run off a garage gravity fed test tank to see if it is any other issue than the pump or does the system need pressurised from the fuel pump? Cheers in advance BTD
I've cleaned injectors by spraying brake cleaner through while opening the injector with a 9V (square portable electronics) battery. Maybe worth a try?
Just in case you haven’t, some of that era bikes had a tiny push in filter in the fuel tank ‘make and break’ I wondered if that was clogged? It’s only the size of your thumb nail and pushes into the fitting.
Fuel tank cap vent/breather.. on the Raptor (road bike) this is an internal pipe from the fuel filler recess to the rear of the tank that often gets blocked with gunge. Apologies if this is the same as the 'make and break'
Cheers gents, keep em coming! Yup got the wee cone filter in the quick connector. I'll try the injector 9v battery hack, better use of them than putting on your tong for a cheap buzz!
Have you tried running the bike without the filter ? I know that's worked for me a couple of times .. As a temporary measure before replacement with a new one .
you will forgive me for suggesting a new sparkplug and checking for no obvious damage to cap, lead and coil.
Da Komrad, new spark plug was first go to, then filters, I'll flush the tank as well prior to the remount.
i've only ever seen it once. and that was on a Renault. blocked injectors. all four of them. Possibly sand. god know how it got in there. if it's anything like a car injector, once you get the fuel line off it you will see a wee gauze in there you can clean out. maybe worth a look.
