Agreed, that was a poor match, Ipswich should have pasted that pub team, only grabbing a draw from the commanding position they were in
Having a few days on the boat, we were meant to be going to Stratford on it but both locks either side of our home moorings are broken so we are trapped, the same thing happened last year so to say im pissed off is an understatement. The most expensive waterway in the country and they do eff all maintenance.
Did a shed load of exercise to get rid of the transient weight I put on over the weekend. It should be gone by Wednesday, just in time for the bank holiday weekend!
Received a refund from Amazon... ...for two items that are sitting on my kitchen worktop Apparently it is an internal Amazon glitch, and I can keep the items & the refund.
Walked up to one of the locks to have a look, they are working on it and looks like they have repointed part of the wall and put about a dozen new bricks in! Give it a month and it will fail again because they just keep patching it up. I also wrote an email to complain to the river trust ….. I bet they ignore me. Anyway it’s cider time
Touch wood I’ve only gone in once in nearly a lifetime of boating, that was on the way back from the bar and I slipped and went in head first and had to climb out through stingers, very unpleasant but on the positive I got to check the anti fouling on my hull was ok.
The thought of 'Going in' is scary in many situations. I've never spent any time on inland waterways, but have spent many, many, nights in coastal marinas and at anchor close to shore. It’s only recently that Marinas are installing more ladders, and some of them are useless only extending a few inches below the surface. If you go in you are faced with a pontoon normally 18” above the water. Most people, especially when fully clothed, now soaking wet, have no chance of pulling themselves up and out. At anchor, unless you’ve remembered to drop a boarding ladder or similar over the transom you are faced with a wall of fibreglass several feet high and no chance of saving yourself. On smaller vessels you obviously have more chance of getting yourself out, but even on my RIB I drop the transom ladder because to get yourself up onto the tubes really needs a pair of Fins for help.
I do have transom ladder if needed but yes it’s a long way up to the deck when your at water level without one.
I checked the weather last night, it was forecasted to rain all weekend. Checked again this morning, and it’s now dry most of the weekend!
Did an 80 mile round trip to DK Motorcycles in Newcastle-upon-Lyme as the weather was so good. This place is packed to the rafters with a good selection of running bikes and projects Thanks for the heads up @Jez900ie /USER]
