Ok so I'm just gauging opinion here. My V2 Bayliss is due an annual service and its first MOT, it's still under warranty so I'm tied to C&J as my closest main dealer (I'm in Hull) but they've quoted £320 for the service! It's an oil & filter then a general once over, what on earth is costing £320? is it me but are they using their position as Ducati main dealer to take advantage?
It was £180 for my GasGas 700 when its annual service was due and that’s just a single. From memory my KTM 790 was £270 for its annual service. But in so doing I kept my warranty, none of the other dealers I asked were any better on price.
I understand the need to keep to the warranty rules and I'm happy to do so, I think I'm just grumbling because it seems expensive given the cost of parts.
i've mentioned workshop running costs before. but i'm also wondering how much it has to do with the amount of hours the manufacturer will pay for warranty work. usually a fraction of the hours it takes to do any diagnostic and repair forcing dealerships to up the hourly rate to cover any loss. i refuse to deal with after market warranties. i have the big book of times program for each and every operation as do they. it's always a fraction of the time it takes even once diagnosed. top tip, yer after market warranty, for vehicles anyhoo, is worthless. cos i dont know a single workshop that will deal with them.
£100 for oil and filter, then whatever the hourly rate is for the check over. Ducati have a list you have to follow for the services
According to the Owner's manual (if I've read it right), the oil change is on mileage not time. If that is the case, your 'Annual' service should not include oil and filter. My V4 Pikes Peak has a 9000 mile or 2 year oil and filter change. Andy
That's good to know Andy, I'll check with them on that as I'm going to MOT it locally first so I'll call them to say.
i had similar quotes for my RSV4 1100 Factory, ended up doing it myself. 90 quid in bits. i kept all the receipts for it and made notes of the mileage.
Soon as mine is out of warranty I'll be doing the interim services for sure and they can have it every 2 years, same as my speed triple. I can do most things and that reminds me to buy the service tool for my Triumph as the spanner is illuminated!
I don't have a solution for you, as your warranty is involved. However no oil change and its £320 is -imo- a total rip off.
Think this would cover yours as same engine I think Ducati Service Plans - N4 SQ SUPERQUADRO | Ducati Preston Chris Walker has a board on his wall showing how much time is allocated (by Ducati) for each bike and each service
Nice one, thank you Andrew looks like it's the same ballpark as C&J. Last time I looked they don't offer fixed price so maybe it'll be cheaper........yeh right this is what they say. "Why choose our workshop We are a DUCATI STORE - Store status is earned by dedicated people who specialise in DUCATI. We have a vast amount of experience with DUCATI - experience that is constantly being added to. As a DUCATI store, we have access to the latest information and technologies that relate to your bike. We charge a very competitive labour rate, currently £88 per hour plus vat. We do NOT charge a set amount to service your bike, we charge by the hours it takes to do the job correctly. Ducatis menu pricing is the maximum it COULD cost, not what it WILL cost. Collection and delivery available. Courtesy bikes available."
I always find Chris Walker very fair, they do charge for the time it takes, so can be less than quoted. I'd hope all dealers are the same.
Healtech Maintenance Mate is what you want, about £80 new, just check your bike model to see which one you need. I use one on my BMW.
