it's called a concentric slave and incorporates the release bearing. then when you're in there you replace the clutch and also the flywheel if it is dual mass while your at it. to do the job properly you're looking at around 1.2-2k
I’m aware of those, but didn’t know how universal they have become. Madness really, like much automotive these days.
Renault Clio but, as above I think a lot are now. Started out with an oil leak from the gearbox, actually hydraulic fluid, topped it up a couple of times then, one day the slave cylinder just failed completely so the clutch couldn't be disengaged. The slave cylinder itself is cheap enough but it's a big job to do as it sits around the gearbox input shaft. Also would likely have needed a new clutch whilst in there so he sold it to the local breakers (they pay decent money for scrap cars) and bought a Fiesta.
Thanks for that. A mate in the trade was telling me about wet cam belt fords these days. Which genius dreamt that up?
I have been using CCW belts on my 999 since I bought it in 2015 without issue. The last ones I fitted had only done a couple of runs on a Dyno and due to a head gasket failure I had to remove them again. The marks on the outside of the belts showing the teeth positions had appeared already so I wouldn't read too much into that as an indication of belt integraty. As for service intervals, I replace them myself so the cost of belts against the cost of failure is a no brainer for me, 5000 miles or 24 months. Each to their own.
