Having got the 27 day countdown to service message on the ride back from the MoT station, just booked its annual service. Busy, busy, busy Andy
top tip. if after several hours of diagnostics, check kill switch is not engaged when checking for spark. fin, yer such a nob.
You are not the first, I did it problem solving a fuel issue on an NC29 during a track day at Almeria and I’m sure you won’t be the last. Andy
there was other issues. the brakes need to be applied before the starter operates. stripped both those micro switches and sorted them, got it spinning over then back and forth using the wiring diagram. i was a nats breath from ordering a CDI unit.
Finished putting the final pieces of PPF on the bike. I’m getting better at this now. Removed and reapplied a couple of bits, with bubbles underneath, they now look much better. Tried refitting the rear spindle bobbin, and actually reading the instruction manual this time, but the whole thing spins as it gets tight, so you can’t actually torque it up. Holding the other side, it just rotates in your hand, so goodness knows how you’re meant to fit it. Evotech have been as useful as a chocolate teapot with their support, which is rather disappointing, given the amount of my money they’ve had over the years.
Took the bike for it's yearly service. Went via a lovely quiet Hartside Pass. Came back via Hardknott and Wrynose passes while laughing at the broken down cars and drivers that can't... Then down into Great Langdale via an unnamed pass After that down a deserted Kirkstone Pass which makes a change....
I fitted one of those Evotech rear spindle bobbins and it interfered with the safety clip that holds the nut in place. The tang on the clip just about engaged the hole in the axle and no more, because the bobbin was preventing proper engagement, due to it being the full of the diameter of the axle. I wasn’t happy and replaced the clip with lock-wire. Have a look for yourself and see
buzzed the rear wheel nut off the Monster in prep for new tyre. Nut yielded effortlessly so all good.
Another 150 miles on the bike today, so it’s only about 100 away from the first service. We’re waiting for the tyre sensors to arrive from Italy though, which is looking like early May, so I’m going to have to go easy on the miles for the next couple of weekends. I can do another 200 or so, before Ducati tell me off.
Went for a 80 mile ride with some mates round Essex and stopped at the ttt motorcycle village in sudbury. Never been before, cafe was shut much to my dismay (bloody starving) but they have a lot of bikes in there which was nice to look at.
Had a run down to Cranfield this morning, to collect a replacement fuel tank for the gsxr project, after lunch, I had a trip in to Hinckley to order a new chain for the same bike, then did some cleaning up of the engine/transmission/frame area, ready for the replacement swingarm to be fitted
oi l& filter and bleed brakes on the monster and tried out the hex gs911 diagnostic device /service tool on my bmw xr
why cant they still service it? especially as back order parts can, and regularly do take longer than expected.
