False neutral between 5 and 6 shifting up, no all the time but around 3-4 times on an hours ride, obvs pretty disconcerting as im marching on. I would say i'm around 6-8000 rpm usually, not hanging about. Always on a positive throttle, always between 5th and 6th Tried to be very positive on the shift but nothing seems obvious. Spoken to Ducati, they adjusted the chain but that didn't work, they "advised" that i should be 10000 rpm and over for the QS to work between 5/6, i laughed at them as that would be at lose your licence instantly speed. Do they have a point? I have had plenty of bikes with a QS, never had this issue
Have it regularly on mine. I was told it would get better after running in, 4.5k later it's only slightly better. As said above it would probably be better with a race shift as the change is ok if I concentrate when moving the lever. QS works fine for me 4k up if you are positive. Might treat myself to a race shift for xmas
You don't need to buy anything... Just move the gear selector rod rose joint from the top connection point to the bottom of the Gear lever. Now you are in "race-shift". Click up for 1st... the rest are all down... Takes about 1 mile to get used to it.... And you will never go back I run three bikes in Race and the classic 888 in "normal" and it's completely doable and apart from that first 1 mile to just get the muscle memory working comes very naturally. And if you don't like it, change on a SF is a 10 min job.
Interesting. Ducati sell a kit with a small harness which reverses the action of the quick shift rod. Did you just modify yours?
I posted a few weeks ago with the identical issues on my multi V4. Took it to my dealer who said my chain was 8mm slack, which they adjusted. I had previously been adjusting the chain by lining up the rivets between the two lines on the gauge that slides under the swingarm. I checked the manual to find that you are meant to press down on he chain with your finger (which I had omitted to do.) The quick shifter is now smoother than its ever been.
Bit of a thread resurrection but at least the search function works well 2022 SF V4S I have the very same issue. First happened on my journey home from the dealership then has happened 4 or 5 times over say 800 miles since. Some decent suggestions to resolve on this thread. I will check the chain tension although that should have been checked as the bike came through their Ducati used approved. After the first time, I made sure it was a nice positive change but it still happens now and again. Not a nice felling when your upshifting at 10k plus into 6th So based on advise above, I’ll check the chain tension, switch to race shift (prefer this anyway) and unless I forget, I’ll do a clutch up shift like we did in the old days! The Upshifts and down shifts are really smooth in all other gears and 5th to 6 is nice and smooth when it works as it should. Anything else I should consider? The bike has the Ducati/Rizoma rear-sets fitted and I defiantly need to look at adjusting both foot pedals. Is it easy to screw up the QS accuracy on these things through messing about with the lever? Onto the other side now. I use the rear brake a lot cornering but this is next to useless. I can’t find the brake pedal intuitively. Again, that might just be a rear set thing, pedal position relative to the foot peg and my right foot! If I’m honest I am thinking about sticking the OEM rear sets back on until I can maybe sell the Rizoma ones and go for the Spider rear sets. I have heard good things about them, I much prefer functionality over form so would appreciate any real world feedback on the Spider rear sets please? They are way to cheap on EBay at £214, does anyone have a trusted distributor? One other thing, again on the first ride, finding the clutch bite and pulling away was a bit chewy, to the point the bike gave a horrible shudder, like the plates were sticky for want of a better description and it was obviously close to stalling. Quickly learned the bite point and throttle input and it’s not been a problem since. The Ducati spacers should help with this as well. It’s not an issue now but i am really conscious of it pulling away on a steep incline. I can’t remember any issue with my 2018 Panigale, is this just the generic “character” of these bikes or could it be an issue specific to my bike? Overall I absolutely love this bike, just a few ‘3 weeks in’ gremlins to sort out, hopefully no real dramas. Any help and advise very much appreciated
