More shopping for "stuff" around the house. Then popped round to see Doris's brother to pick up some bedding. Then came home, built some flatpack, had my tea, and now eating easter egg whilst watching MAFSAU
I always say one can’t have enough stuff for the house however your interest in MAFSAU is unforgivable and may encourage others with less willpower to fall into this bear pit of sub- humanity I can only hope abbreviating it throws some off the scent
Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I tend to go for annual European cover as, if it doesn't save money, it at least saves doing it all again for single trip cover. I do tend to do at least one bike trip plus a holiday with my partner. We've been talking about further afield for this year (always leave that late) so might look at Worldwide cover.
Had my viewing in Hope Valley first thing this morning . Unfortunately too many red flags for me including; Not being open at 9:30 mid week when the other two coffee shops were, were within 100 metres of this one and were empty. Not being able to see it running and staffed. Most tourist traffic heading a mile up the road to Castleton where there’s much more choice. At least it settled an argument t in my head though. We move on. Spent the rest of the day at Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs. We’ve been very lucky with the weather. Glorious. Just over 12 miles and I came last. The “dogs on leads at all times” in a 555 square mile national park is getting really fucking boring though. If you see me passing with my dogs please mind your own business, as I will yours lol.
The Land Rover failed it's MOT for the first time in 13 years with 3 x items plus a smaller advisory list. I'm ok with that result over that period.
Ongoing work on the SXV at the moment. After the initial go on it ive got a few issues (nothing big) just stuff to look at.... Neutral light not working. Slight oil leak (but that was kind of intentional). Speedo not working. Front Wheel not quite straight. Neutral not working: So turns out the entire neutral circuit mechanism isnt there! The OEM neutral sensor is now no longer available from Aprilia, so out looking for an new part from someone that happens to have one or a secondhander. One of the lads on the SXV forum whatsapped my and said that a neutral sensor from the Dorso/Shiver 750 might work so taken a punt and ordered one of those (hopefully that'll work) we'll see. Slight Oil Leak: Its had its first oil change - first bike ive ever owned with a separate gearbox oil circuit. The crankcase is made of a very soft alloy and made a mental note of the tighness (not tight atall) so ive been very careful tightening them up. So rode in this morning to see if its either residual oil from the change or, i might need to torque them up a bit more...Torque should be 18nm but literally all the videos that talk about them say to be really careful...so ive used the minimal possible... Speedo not working: When i first went out on it a few weeks back it kinda worked, then didnt (random speed readings when it did). put some very thin washers in the between the bolts to get the head of the bolts to pass closer to the speedo sensor. At the time one of the aprilia documents said to test get the front wheel off the ground then spin it...which i did, didnt work. But low and behold this morning on the way to work....its working fine. Front wheel needed a tweak with the spoke key. Wasnt quite straight but that was sorted out with the spoke key, plus it was slightly rubbing against the Brembo caliper so i tightened onside and loosened the other a tad just to pull the rim over so thats all sorted now. Stripped the fuel pump down on the Hypermotard to change that fuel pump filter which all went smoothly so a good few days of maintenance!
spent the last half hour "wrestling" with some brand-new fuel tank bolts and brand-new captive nuts and a brand-new (car) fuel tank.. What's not to like/what's to go wrong? you might think. Hole pitches, hole diameters, crudely cut threads versus nicely rolled ones, friction and misalignment abound - waved the white flag for today. "i know what i have to do" but just can't raise the enthusiasm today. If i'd trusted this to a garage i know exactly what they would've done, but at least the job would be finished.
Booked a table at one of my favorite restaurants for lunch on the way back to Calais on the last day of our trip. Getting rather excited now!
It said dust seal and nothing about the a frame ball joint being worn out like the owner, so it's easier to replace the whole unit time & moneywise.
