Suspension Spares Hord

  1. I've not posted this in the for sale section as I don't really know what I've got yet, or detailed it all. So don't have a clue on prices or if any of it will be offered FOC.

Over the last 10yrs or so I've built up a load of left over parts from front forks.
Mainly from building sets of my hybrid 848/1098 forks to fit 50/53mm yokes, and converting bikes with non-adjustable Showas to adjustable ones.
I now need to make some space in my storage container.

A lot of it is perfectly useable, including the Stanchions as I've already binned any that were pitted etc. There's a few pairs of complete forks, and I could probably build up some sets from the parts.
Although the really early pair of SS forks are only fit for the bin really, but I'll recover the bottom castings because I have the tools to remove the bottom castings from any of the Stanchions if needed.

But if anyone is in need of anything let me know and I'll focus on those first, or if anyone sees anything in one of the images they want more info on let me know.
I probably won't have time to get full detail on the whole lot and list them individually in the for sale section for a couple of weeks or so.

  2. Quite a collection you have there Nasher, though I probably wouldn't have laid out those lovely anodised stanchions, on bare rocks and gravel

  3. Don't worry, I did it really carefully and didn't move them once they were in contact.
Besides, if you saw what anodising puts up with where I work you'd not be so worried.

  4. All

I've already had several enquiries about the complete early bronze coloured forks with 40mm spaced caliper holes.

I'm aware that they can now be desirable, and yes, under normal circumstances the tubes could be re-anodised and the stanchions replaced/replated but they really are scrap I'm afraid as the corrosion is so deep.
I will be attempting to recover the bottom castings, as they could be useful, and are I think they already spoken for.

If you doubt how corroded they are I started this thread about them:

  5. Those SS forks would be good on a 620 or 600 dd bike so have posted the link there. Plus they are function not form: ie looking shtty isn’t an issue long as they work

  6. Would you have a couple of compression adjuster bolts for sale? For 916 / SS era, they bolt the bottom of the fork cartridge in on adjustable Showa forks.
