  1. Some very surprising prices, could have bought a Velocette Venom for less than I’ve just paid for a Scrambler. Andy

  2. Yeah.... makes you think.

It seems only the exceptional 'original' bikes command the prices now.

And anything with a kickstart doesn't....

  3. Boomer generation bikes. Getting too old for them

  4. MV Agusta 750S America went for £29,900 inc premium (£40 - £60K guide price)..:astonished:

Does require recommissioning though, and clearly some road bits missing, so cheque books at the ready, but even so.....

  5. Yeah, I noticed the bevels also required recommissioning and were perhaps not complete so as you say you're not going to buy summat for 40 grand and then have to spend another 10 to 20 recommissioning it. You're better off buying a dumpster for 5k.

And I suspect good MV & Bevel techs are now getting thin on the ground.

  6. Some seriously tasty prices there. 53 Norton Inter for £7500, AJS 7R for less than ten grand. Few years back both would have been close to double that. Hope yet for some stuff I thought would never be in my price range.

  7. I bought an AJS 7R with knackered big ends as a box of bits in 1971, I paid the princely sum of £5. Those were the days :joy: Andy

  8. I went up to Stafford on Saturday to view the bikes, the 750GT was nice but looked like it had stood for years in a damp shed, for £13k a good buy for someone with the experience to restore. I was drawn toward the 80’s jap stuff from my yoof…The white RD250LC for example was tempting, think they’re the bikes to watch over the coming years..

  9. Honda 400/4 garage queen sells for over £17k at the same auction that a Manx Norton with race history, Molnar engine, Hemmings gearbox and road regd. sells under £15k. Strange times.

  10. I went to see those bikes. Most of them anyway. They don't look quite so good in the flesh. If it looks like an 8 out of 10 in the pictures it's probably a 5 at best.
Anyway, it's a good day out viewing them. Like being in a museum but it's free, you can touch and fiddle to your hearts content and get free refreshments. Highly recommend.

  11. It’s the age of people buying them. Mates of mine thought I was mad to be into British stuff as well as jap stuff in the 80s/90s. People who remember riding in the heyday of British stuff must be 80 odd by now.
