I'm about 2500 miles into ownership of my 2013 bike and i reckon there's about 1000 miles of tyre wear left. Looks like the front is wearing as fast as the rear. Do they all do that? Not sure what to get next. I know everyone raves about the PR3's but they are ugly looking things. Quite tempted by the Angel GT's.
I got 5000 miles out of my Scorpions. Had some Pirelli Angel GT's fitted a couple of 100 miles ago at the recommendation of the dealer. Seem Okay to me.
Your doing really well if you get another 1000 miles, changed mine around 2700 miles as they were well gone. Went for PR3s and fairly happy so far, they wear really well. Tbh I think I liked the PR2s more, but without a back to back comparison (on the Multistrada as they were my tyre of choice on previous bikes) its hard to know.
I only got 2300 miles out of the scorpions. I've just fitted the angle gt tyres and am currently blasting around the Scottish mountains in all conditions you could think of. I've got to say that the gt tyre is the best tyre I've ever used. It's incredible in wet and dry. I can't wait to see what kind of mileage I get out of them.
Cheers, Phillipo that's what i hoped someone would say. To be fair i have had no issues with the Scorpions other than their wear rate though i guess as summer's go its been pretty dry this year.
Scorps shredded after 3,500 miles. PR3s still looking good after 4,000 miles - and they inspire as much confidence.
I have now done 4700 miles on the Angel GT, most of that being on a tour to Croatia where we did 3250 miles 2 up with luggage, and I have to say I am really impressed. There is still a good 2000 to 3000 miles left and despite a fair bit of motorway running they have not started to square off. Handling and stability in the dry is excellent and although I have not done much in the rain yet, I will almost certainly stick with these when they do need changing.
5000 miles so far on my Z8s and really rate them. The rear will need replacing in the next 1k but the front looks good for another 5k.
Got the Pirelli Angel GT as standard on my Multi GT & just clocked 4,000 miles on them & still got over 3mm front & back, so well pleased with them.
PR2s are better than PR3s for wear (and not much less performance). BT23s are really good. Currently got Z8s on my Fazer 1000 and really like them - even more than the BT23s which I like better than PR2/3s. Will be trying a set of Z8s on the Multi next (if I don't go for SportSmarts again).
hi phil Ive got 5500m out of my scorpions and there still going, well just on tyre indicator to change now, the front one has worn more on the right as you would expect!Oh and I like to think I don't hang around, but I don't blast in a straight line just for the hell of it. I like leaning and cornering fast, back tyre to the edge. Getting the Angel gt next cus its standard on the GT mutley. Scorpions are stiil standard fit on the cheaper 2013 Mutley. Good luck in the mountains, wish I was there, bag a few Munroe's too.
Only had the MTS for a few days but all of them have been wet. I had PR3s on my ex - a Tiger 1050 - and they inspired a confidence I'm just not getting with the Scorpions. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and shell out for some new tyres sooner than I thought. The handbook implies that the tyres need to be changed by the dealer for technical reasons. Does anyone know if this is necessary?
Just need to make sure your fitter has the right tools for removing the rear wheel and balancing single sided wheels. Better still, get one yourself and keep it under your seat. I take my wheels in loose to eliminate ham fisted fitters.
Found the Scorpions to be good in the wet to 2000 miles, just need a bit heat in them. Very good in the dry as well. Longevity was the problem and rapid losing shape. At £250-300 a pair for tyres I would just wear them out.....then go PR2/3s.
The Scorps are not a bad tyre but wear out real quick, I got about 3000 from my pair, I have Dunlop Sportsmarts, very good tyres.
