Hi I have got my first Ducati. 2013 Multistrada 1200S Touring. Made in Thailand and I love it. Only hit 200kms so far, its rainy season. My only dislike is how quiet the exhaust is. Going to have to work on that.
sawatdee khap Hopefuly I will be back in Thailand very soon for more training and visit more stadiums to watch muay thai competitions. Two of my friends now live in Pattaya and another moved to Bangkok more than 20 years ago and is a teacher there ( ex boxer).
What makes you think it was made in Thailand? As far as I know, they only make the Monster 796 in the Thai factory.
The 2013 Multistrada, Diavel and the new Hypermotard are all assembled in Thailand. The tax has been cut by 30% so it makes them still very expensive compared to UK prices but cheap compared to imported bikes. We have to pay an over 1000cc tax which bumps the price up. Now i just need it to stop raining so I can go and ride it.
The factory (Italy) was knocking Multistrada, hypers and diavels out on their production line when I was there a month ago??.
The Thai factory is for the Asian market. They are in Knock down format and assembled here. The bike is exactly the same as the European model, it just has the fuel sticker in Thai, Chinese, Japenese and English. Everything else is the same. Got a break in the rain and got another 100kms done today.
tis true, on a recent interview with ducati top man all this was stated as in the asia market, ducatis are being built in Thailand for distribution in asia and I believe built in brasil for south American market, kev
As I said before, unless they've change tactics recently (as in within the last six months) they only build the 796 in Thailand.
