....was epic. Simply stunning amounts of power and only curtailed by the drizzle currently overhead. However, on startup it sometimes fails to fire first time and it's not a smooth rev delivery on idle, it'll jump between 1000-1500rpm. It's an 08 plate fitted with termis, is this normal or do I need to get it into Winchester soon? Thanks for the help in advance.
It's quite common for Ducati's not to start first time especially if they have a starter that times out by itself after a few seconds. Sometimes takes a couple of prods before it fires. They are also a bit lumpy in general below 4000rpm. Do you have the Ducati performance ECU to go with the termi's? If not that sometimes does not help or if the bike has had termi's and ECU fitted by the previous owner themselves but not set up by Ducati as the they adjust the fuelling. If it's worrying you give the dealer a ring and ask a few questions, can't do any harm. Btw enjoy!!
My 848 dont start first time....but it will start no bother after a week or two from being last ridden. But if it doesnt, i release starter and go again - caaaa...booooommm !! No need to rev it / open the throttle when starting either. Re the lumpy feeling, with the termi's on it could be just running off and need a tweek. Enjoy !!
Sounds like maybe the throttle bodies and/or TPS need re-setting, but ref the starting, mine sometimes takes a bit of winding over!
Thanks for the replies. The startups aren't worrying me too much, when it next goes in for a service I'll have them look at the idling engine. Fantastic weekend almost ruined by getting sideswiped by a twat in a transit in London but many thanks to West London Ducati/Yamaha who came and picked me up and sorted a new gear lever! Very lucky that it wasn't worse, minimal damage to me and the bike. Anyone selling a red left hand fairing for a non evo 848? D I'm genuinely more in love with this bike than I ever was with my (now ex) girlfriend!!
true... i think Ducati Corse can even retro fit a 'comfort apeture' into the tank for those miss you nights.
