  1. Ladies and Gents,

Here is my new baby but would like to know if this is a legit Ducati bike or a dealer special....

1198S 2012 Year. Bought second hand from Kawasaki Colchester with 193 miles on the clock. DSC01008.jpg

  2. Whoops, other photo got sucked in somehow. That was last years trip across Europe all way down to Croatia, Bosnia, and back. Will post another better photo. Took my zzr1400 for that. Apologies for non-Ducati pictures on the forum but only owned mine for 2 weeks now.

  3. This was taken in Bosnia. History all around. A bit 'scary' at times when you enter a village still marked off with Mine fields and huge, huge Serbian flags telling you exactly where their loyalties lie. 046.jpg

  4. Last one promise before this link gets moved, cos I really DSC00752.jpg do want to know if my bike is original Ducati. Thanks.

  5. Someones idea of a joke I would guess. Not an official factory paint scheme

  6. Its been done bloody well then cos the paint is well done and the transfers all lacquered over.

  7. Dream machine

not a ducati original, I think the only rossi esq bike they did was the kits for the monsters but I'm sure somebody will chirp in soon enough

  8. not an oem paintjob afaik, could be this one from altamura

in which case it will be beautifully done and cost an arm and a leg despite being a colossal waste of paint

  9. I have seen the Monster specials. Look nice but an unusual bike to stick 46's on I thought.

  10. Hi Funkatronic, Well, that has pleased me cos mine looks just like that and the quality is superb. So could be an Altamura. Kawasaki reckon mine cost £17,500 originally. Any idea whether that number is legit or wishful advertising too !.

  11. Well full rrp was in the region of 17k I believe, then factor in paint which most dealers uplift the bike by £500 as they get trade rates and do these reps to shift individual bikes, I'd say it sounds about right really.

  12. sorry wasnt knocking the bike , thats an awesome machine i'd love an 1198s :)

as for the paint job race reps, they are a always marmite for me, and the assocation of ducati with rossi wasnt the longest or most successful hence my waste of paint comment

other on here will know better I thinks the 1198s was 15k new, dont know if it came with an other extras but the terms were probably 1200 -1500 quid (possibly more) and that paint job could easily have cost £1500 from altamura or dream machine (and will cost you a similar amount to go back to a solid colour if you choose), so 17.5k could have well been the price paid by the riginal owner

  13. Sadly no termi's on mine. Original Equipment.
Can I open the Clutch up ?

  14. ah well, one for the winter shopping list
open clutch covers are plentiful to find and easy to fit

  15. Hello and welcome!

  16. A fair few dealers had them painted up, OYB had quite a few at one time
