Wanted Sports Classic 1000

  1. Sorry if its not posted in the right area of the forum.

    Hi Guys,

I am wondering if any of you can help me out. Over the next few months I am on the lookout for my next bike, having set my sites on the Ducati Sports Classic 1000 biposto. Unfortunately not many of them seem to be around.

I am not in a rush (which is a good thing I guess). Overall I am looking for a higher mileage bike, so 10k or 30k on the clock. I have talked to a dealer that sold two this year and he has given me a realistic price range that I should aim within for one of the higher mileage bikes. I would go for a lower mileage bike but they are just so expensive!

I am not going to be overly picky as long as its in sound working order, ideally I would like black or red but considering they don't come up for sale much I am not going to get fussy.

If anyone on this forum has one for sale or knows of a reasonable one that comes up for sale I would love to hear from you.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.

    Rich

  3. Hi Paul,
Thanks for taking the time to get back to me on this. Yea the one in Spain looks good. I sent the guy an email yesterday and I am getting a few prices for the costs involved in bringing it back. Even with that it still looks a good price. It will be interesting to see if it is still available. I guess the Euro going down the pan does have at least some positives.
How did you find it? It would be good to know for future reference.

  4. Rich,

All i did was look at www.ebay.es and look for "ducati 1000" and it popped up, i look at all the european sites as there are some great deals about, mostly just trial and error.

    Happy surfing

  6. I have a Biposto, and just spent three months trying to find an unfaired mono or biposto SC1000 for my wife, and considering I am online every day editing my cafe racer site and am in touch with thousands of bikers, I only just found a reasonably priced Paul Smart 1000LE, and I had to go to Belgium for it!

Good luck with your search, but as all the guys say, check all the Euro ebays, especially northern Europe (there was a yellow Mono is the South of France two weeks ago, but 40,000 kms). Also look at piston heads, and check the Sport Classic & Ducati Facebook groups. I found mine through the Belgian Sport Classici Facebook pages, run by Koen.

The big problem is that when they do crop up, people will ask (and some will pay) silly prices. I've seen three 1000Ss go on ebay, all for £8k plus, which is insane.
