Haydn, I've got several pictures in my album of my 916 (which I believe is totally as it left the factory) that should answer most of your questions, if you want any close ups of a particular part/area let me know.
In addition to what's been mentioned above: Original screen bolts are actually made of brass. The front mudguard bolts are cap heads.
Yes, frightening to think how long they had been on there, they are the one thing which I removed and replaced with up to date items, maybe I should have kept them on as I only did about 1k miles on it all in the dry and no fast stuff so probably would have been ok. Must get it out for another summer some time.
