848 Oberon Slave Cylinder

Discussion in 'Parts, Accessories & Clothing For Sale' started by willyduke, Oct 30, 2013.

  1. Bought from Matt on here in mistake as I thought it fit all 848 models, turns out not.

Used condition, less than 1000 miles old (if you read matt's thread).

This is for a NON EVO and will need modification to fit an EVO which i'm not overly keen on doing.

£60 delivered (what i paid for it).

  2. i'm Confused.com

The engline cases and slave did not change between 848 and evo. Oberon list the same part for all models ?

  3. If its still there in a couple of weeks I may possibly take it (?)......commited to some other stuff at the moment. I should have bought a cheaper house and i could have a n 899 now with a smaller mortgage...lol

But i think there are two types of cylinder sizes. ( I will have a look into it for myself anyway ).

  4. Later engines have a keyed push rod to stop it spinning, so the clutch slaves are not compatible.

  5. Gotcha, never knew that. The newer slave fits all models but not vice versa.
Wonder why they wanted to stop it spinning ?

  6. Got the low down for any potential buyers to clarify it all.

Both slaves will fit all models but if you have a post 11 bike and the old type slave you have to remove the pin from the rod which is what people were doing pre the updated slave.

The purpose of the pin was that a few bikes suffered clutch throw out bearing failures which meant the rod spun at speed in the slave doing damage. The pin prevents that from happening.

  7. so it will fit most pre 2011 ducatis

  8. I was referring to 848's but yes it fits a big range of Ducati models. The list is on the Oberon site but it covers most of them.

  9. If the clutch push rod spins it can generate heat on the rod and in the clutch slave and boil the fluid == no clutch!

It used to happen a lot on bikes with dry clutches where the clutch pressure plate bearing failed due to poor maintenance.

  10. Which is exactly what happened to me when the bearing seized in the pressure plate

  11. Sorry if this is a daft question but.....
Is this the pale silver colour or the slightly darker "titanium" silver ? Its hard to be sure from the pic.
I suspect it is the pale one but if its the darker colour then I would be interested.
Though obviously I'll take my place in any queue that might have developed.

  12. I tell you what.....if i wasnt confused before, I am now !

    ( where's Matt with the confused smileys ? )

  13. Hi is this still for sale?

  14. Yes still for sale.

  15. And Ministry, even if it did fit your archaic 916, it's not for sale to you. Just asking if it fits a bike non specific to the bike it came off doesn't reserve it to yourself. Spanner.

  16. What a shame hey, I see that on here a lot, someone has something for sale they ask a question, get no reply, then sell it to someone else before responding! NICE!

    OR

Someone has something for sale then some other knob jokey posts up they have one for sale cheaper! and what's worse they do it in the OPs thread!!

What goes round comes round... HaHa
