Like a new bike...

  1. It's funny the way a few minor changes can make your old steed feel like a new bike.

Did a bit of a winter prep over the weekend, with chain cleaned and lubed, calipers cleaned and greased, all controls cleaned,d lubed and adjusted etc.

I also fitted some new tyres, which are cast offs from a mate who went for sticky track tyres to his bike. They are Pirelli Diablos. They are a bit more of an aggressive profile than the Road Smarts I had on.

This morning on the commute, the weather was cold but not Baltic and roads were dry. The bike just felt alive. It was responsive and smooth and just reminded me why I have it in the first place.

The 4s really is a cracking bike and even though I've had it for 6 years, it can still bring a smile and a reminder that there are few bikes out there that mix the usability and comfort with real sporting ability and a good dash of power.

It will be damn hard to replace when the time comes.
