  1. hi,
just purchased p/c v for my 1198,i have 70mm system air filter and race ecu fitted, i would like advise on maps, or any opinion?
    thanks tony

  2. Custom map all the way mate, for the matter of another £150 on a dyno and it being built around your bike it's well worth the money.

Other peoples custom maps are only ever going to be nearly right........ It's much better seeing your bike tuned correctly and then feeling the difference :)

  3. Sell the PC and use the money on a custom map on the original ECU. Bollocks to that plugging in extra things to go wrong malarky.

  4. :)

Nice theory but surely your better having a Pcv that's under warranty and tuned as if it goes wrong you simply unplug it and send it away to be fixed, bike still runs and you can go out and play.

Reflash an ecu I would assume invalidates warranty or any claim and if that goes tits you've got no bike until its fixed.

  5. He should already have a spare ecu, the stocker and the DP one, one goes wonky donkey plug the other in, bike still runs and you can go out and play, as you say!

The Magnetti marelli ecu is less likely to fail than a pc too.

  6. Damn I forgot about that spare ecu :)

  7. Those bolt on fuel adjusters are poor. Remapping the original ecu is the only way to a good tune. The other thing that dissapoints me is the 150 pound powercommander set up. For 150 pounds a dyno operator is not going to weld o2 bosses into the headers and make a map for each cylinder. On a vee twin if you dont do this you have put 150 pounds in the bin. To many operators are mapping v twins like jap fours and wonder why the plugs end up different colours even after there dyno software shows them an apparent perfect AFR

  8. the powercommander5 takes the option of the autotune unit...this connects to the pc5 and has a lambda sensor attatchment too
the result is your bike is in constant perfect tuning and does away with the need for a dyno run ...i have it on my race bike and its a wow!!!...dont have it on my ducati tho.

  9. LOL . The auto tune does not work . Every bike i have tested with self tune , on they dyno failed every time. I had one on my own personal bike . I even made manual maps , Activated the auto tune and accepted the trims , Maps were ruined. I spoke with dynojet many times but they lost interest in my application. Its a gimmick to sell units. It could work well but it doesnt because the points that the rpm breakpoints accept the trims are wrong. If they got the timing right it could work. Problem is for every bike its different.

  10. Can anyone recommend a good place to get an ECU reflashed with a custom map and what sort of money are we talking? Is this something a main dealer could do or would you take it somewhere a little more specialised? I'm based in the Camberley (Surrey) area...

    Any guidance greatfully received. Thanks.

  11. drop CJS a PM
