Ducati 749 dark fuel pump noise start up which killed battery

  1. basically i have been using my 749 dark as normal, and basically i went to check on it at the weekend, and the fuel pumps randomly turned on and wouldnt turn off, i tried the ignition and everything i started the bike turned it off still the noise. so i left it hoping it would may just stop checked the next day battery died?


    HELP ME PEOPLE :)
     
  2. Check your fuel pump/injector/coil relay. It will be corroded. You need to replace it. Unfortunately it is a battery/battery box out job as the relay is behind the heat shield just below the starter relay. It's a common fault.

  3. New relay cost me just under £5.00. I bought one a few months ago for my 749S. My local Ducati dealer had plenty in stock at the time .... Not difficult to change, just hidden under an hour of disassembling 'stuff'. Good chance to get under the skin and check that the electronics are clean and well protected from the UK elements.
