Arquebus-I want to build your front paddock stand!

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Kurt V, Dec 26, 2013.

  1. Do you have a thread where you show how to make them? Dimensions, etc.? Also exactly where do you thread it through the frame? Can't really tell in the pictures I have seen. Thanks!

  2. Is that the biking equivalent of wanting to have someone's babies?

  3. Well they do say bald men make better lovers - hey Al??!!

  4. I'm not bald, it's just cropped.

I will get the measurements on Friday.........the bar goes through behind the headstock above the airbox.......check the frame for cracks before you use it though............SSs have had problems with frame cracks.

    AL

  5. Check wood for woodworm too, or stand snaps and the cracked frame snaps too.

In reality, its a useful garage piece of kit

  6. picture please , Al make sure you've a copyright.

  7. I have patented the idea:wink:...........(Patented - not painted)............but they could just as easily be made out of 40 - 50mm RHS...

    Going measuring in a while.........

  8. Stand - less than £10. Woodworm and preservative treatment - £50

  10. Oh ok so that bar goes under trellis behind headstock , so you then have to wind up nuts either side to raise bike off ground .
what benefit do you get from this as opposed to an under the front yoke ---- Eureka you can remove triple trees.  :upyeah: Wow that sunk in as I were typing cor luv a duck mr. Sometimes you cant see the wood for the tees . < pun right there.

  11. I always use a rear paddock stand with it, but if you have two of the stands, you can use one at the back and then remove the rear paddock stand........then you can remove the swingarm without taking the zorsts off......

..........actually I didn't use my front stand to do the swingarm, just the rear one....

To lift the front wheel clear, it takes about 20 turns each side @ 5 - 10 each time

  12. Al, thanks for the excellent photo with measurements! I'm hoping I can make it a height that will make it suitable to use on my other motorcycles.

Now I have to Google metric to inch conversion chart! :upyeah:

  13. I'm fluent in both...............

If you make it higher than 730mm, the clip ons will hit the bar (or at the rear, the stand will be too high - in fact, 730 is too high at the rear)

  14. Sorry, my bad:frown:
