Any of you 748-998 owners tried a 60 profile instead of the stock 55? Realise it's taller/ride height yadda yadda....But any issues with it hitting/rubbing? Cheers
I run 195/65's Dunlop KR's oon the track 853R shed. Being careful with the chain ajustment/ hub eccentric position its fine. The tyre can rub on the belly pan (race spec 998 fairing) if the eccentric is too in the slack position. 190/60's would have even more clearance than 195/65's
Cranker i've used the same tyres on my R1. Spent half the day pissing about ride heights before deciding I preferred my Michelins with their more road bike profiles. Have you had to do much twiddling to keep the balance of the bike? Nelson, can you let us know how the 180/60s go. Sound ideal for shorter circuits.
I am in the habit of changing settings for each track etc. I like the dunlops and the feedback they give, nice and progressive when they start to slide.
Going to us them in Spain in Jan. Some lightly used once about for not too bad money at the mo...Which is nice...
Have only tried two slicks, the Metzler comp K and the Dunlop as above. Dunlop twice as good, and the 65 rear improved turn in as if I'd raise the thing to the height of a penny farthing. Converted.
I weigh about as much as a wet sock so like the rear a little lower to feel it digging in when I fire out the corners. Modern stuff is so good and fast it's the only real thing I've got in my favour. Being honest though, I've stopped using slicks the last couple of years. When I do get out it's on Bridgestone R10s now.
pretty sure my 996s fell over when I had a higher profile tyre on, because the bike leans over more on the side stand
Nelson iv got a 180 60 on and it does not fit with my rear huger, the tyre is to tall so I cut the huger off. Awesome tyre though.
