916 ohlins forks wanted

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by Ducati worx, Jan 17, 2014.

  1. I'm looking for a set of ohlins forks for my ducati 916 sp3, if anyone has any for sale drop me an email or any other suggestions welcome

  2. There's a set on eBay at the moment, started at £800 but it's rising quickly. It has adapter plates to fit 40mm and 65mm calipers and is complete.

They are not mine by the way.

  3. Im looking at getting a whole new front end for the 749 project so I can fit radial brembo mono blocks and some nice Ohlins. The Ohlins really hold a high value...

Those 916 forks... £1000 for a set of 16 year old forks... crazy. Its only a couple of hundred more for 1098S forks

  4. I have them on my 916 and along with the magnesium wheels are the best mods you can make. I bought mine new. £1600, so £1000 is cheap.

  6. £1000, cheap, fpmsl some people really do live in a bubble.

You can get 1098 ones with yokes for less. More modern tech, radial caliper mounts and wont have been thru as many winters.

Or get some 848 etc showas and spend £500 having the, valvled and built, you'll need to spend money on a refresh anyway

  7. Depends what you want. I wouldn't put a radial front end on mine as its not a period correct modification. I've owned since mine since new and have no intention of ever selling so I'll be bidding on these. I also think you will always get your money back if you sell them on.

  8. Now at £1550. I'm out!

  9. Are these ex superbike, or special R&T or actually gold plated?!

  10. eh? £1550 mine were £1600 brand new from HM Racing. That too included the billet lower yoke.

    Theyre just FG43 R&T forks.

  11. If I remember rightly they are an early kit, I don't think they are anything special. bought in 1999. Looks like they are going for a good price!!

  12. Not sure, I thought R&T's were FG43's but he only paid £2k new

  13. Lucky sod. Good price for them indeed.

  14. ^^ I wouldn't be surprised if they went just a bit higher, has bidding fever struck? I wonder? Been there done that and got carried away!!

Has anyone else? or is it just me at times.

  15. Nope. Just you. I buy bargains or fair price. Know how much you are prepared to pay and pay no more. I learnt this watching Bargain Hunt. Tim Wonnacot is my leader.

  16. ^^^ To be fair I have never lost out but I do sometimes wonder if I really needed that part and did I actually want to pay as much for it. Restraint is a wonderful thing!!!

Actually having just written this on the flip side one of the best bargains I got was an ABBA stand for a 748/9** for £0.99p (eBay). It cost me more in petrol to collect it.

  17. Unless it's for vanity a 20 or 25mm kit in the standard ones will work better and cost much less, you won't get the problem of seals going all the time either.

  18. Thanks to everyone for their replies, the item on ebay is going for crazy money!!!
does anyone know if a set of 1098 or 848 black ohlins would fit?

  19. I managed to get a 749r carbon chain guard today for £10 :) It's always a winner when you are after something that no one else wants
