Multi 2013 - best "change" for 2014

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by spanish, Dec 10, 2013.

  1. I got a blank key cut in the end, same non passive key the Monster uses and cost me £12 from my dealer. Looking at getting
Ducati Multistrada 1200/Diavel Hands Free Key Holder Keyring | eBay to wear the fob on my lanyard whilst touring. Can then use the cut key for all the remedial tasks.

Had a bit of a run around getting someone to cut it though. Most wanted to use their own supplied blanks. Something to do with insurance for their machine if the blank jams or damages it. Needless to say they never had the blade style blanks available, either in shop or to order.

  2. Improvements I would like to see, in order:
    1. Improve the back brake
    2. Fit the sports bike mono blocs to the front
    3. Cut 25mm off the centre stand arm
    4. create a longer front mudguard rear piece either standard or as an accessory
    5. do something about the hand guards and fluid brackets
    6. offer a better positioned sat nav mount, one that isn't masked by a tank bag (like the navihalter)
    7. Fit keyless filler as standard, and central locking as standard to the GT
    8. put an accessory socket up by the bars
    9. Do something about the extremely noisy 12v supply (so bad it interferes with my Audio devices and intercom)
    10. Do something about the air flow / turbulence !
    11. Consider offering heated seats (so it competes better with other touring offerings)
    12. offer the colour display

    That should do it :)

  3. As John w on this....spot on!

  4. Just ordered the holder and the blank key. I must have set off with the main key in the rear seat release at least 50 times over the last 3 years. How it hasn't fallen out before I've realised is anyone's guess. This year the main key will never see the light of day!

  5. Ditch the frankly stupid electronic key and flip up / down ignition switch - just put a proper lock on FFS.

It was a problem that didn't need solving and is the root cause of a huge number of ongoing reliability issues for owners.

  6. An extremely valid point. It's taken a good idea and only partly implemented it. The net result being the bike is still not truly key less. Not bothered about key less panniers as the use is for most is incidental, but the fuel cap as an option ? Negates the whole point in my opinion.

  7. Same as what I have always thought technology for technology sake! Pointless!!

  8. No probs with mine. Did have a dodgy batt connection which may have been related to keeping it in a wet pocket. Sprayed some cotact cleaner and its been fine since.

Have keyless fuel cap. Same as with 2010. No real drama.

I would like it the other way. Remote seat lock so I don't keep leaving it behind by mistake!

  9. Nice thought lokyc, the only problem would be how to get the seat off when the battery is flat...

  10. After leaving my key in the seat long more times than I can remember

I fitted one of these Door or Boot Trunk Popper Opener Solenoid Kit Suitable For de Locking Your Car | eBay

Hid the button but wired to ignition voltage so no one can pop your seat when your away if they do find the button!

And you can still use your key in the seat lock if it fails for any reason :upyeah:

  11. Boomer, I forgot you did that. Nice idea :upyeah:

  12. Just call Ducati Assistance and get your butler to bring the spare bike down...

Well, you could still keep a manual keylock. Besides, seat locks aren't that secure....

  13. I wish I. Had a butler for such an occasion

  14. Mine too - probably the biggest improvement over the 2012, methinks!

  15. I found mine from an old car alarm fob.
