Hi all, first proper post here. Going to be picking up the bike next month and after chatting to the current owner, I have come up with a list of what I think may need doing: Renew fuel and light relays + waterproofing Upgrade starter circuit Upgrade charging circuit Replace quite a few furry bolts Renew chain adjusters Strip and repaint the headlight unit Do you the knowledgable have any specific recommendations on the electrical side?
Rob, how did the bike work out ? Not sure what recommendations were made on the electrical side but I think it's more a case of jump and hope for the best. I have owned an '05 749S for the past 4 years and it as worked faultlessly during that period. This year I've had a nightmare but through hours of pouring over workshop manuals and a tad of common sense, it has only cost me £30 of bits from my local dealer ... ! Keep us posted
Picking the bike up on Monday with any luck, the seller is away on work at the moment. I've just got my mirrors through from Cycoon, and they threw in a set of LED rear indicators for free. The original mirrors are in a spares box, but there are DP mirrors on at the moment, and they have started to bubble on the stalks, so went for the new option. Apart from the electrical side, which won't be too hard, I'm getting it venture shielded, bike trac, and a damn good valet at a mates in Newbury. Can't wait to get this show on the road, after selling my Falco I have been missing the V Twin, and decided that I need to have a Duc
Got the bike today, and what a machine. Same weight as the Falco, but in a totally different league as far as handling. After a year off two wheels, the body is feeling it today, but as if I need an excuse to get out. Managed to snap one of the mirrors on the way back, tried adjusting it but it had siezed. Perfect time to fit some new ones this afternoon. Will post pics when the light gets better!
I no longer have the bike, but while I was riding it, the mirrors made a HUGE improvement to rearwards visibility, for me. It will be different for each rider though. I got them from here Cyccon - FAR Ducati spiegels met knipperlichten - Ducati mirrors with indicators They are a Dutch company, but speak very good english, and I had them within a week of ordering. The mirrors they sell are manufactured by FAR (Italy) who happen to make alot of the OEM mirrors for Aprilia, Guzzi and some Ducs as well.
I was just going to get into this thread, that was a quick foray into the Ducati forum I must say !! Guvs.
