  2. ive never heard a good thing about any of the ads on gumtree. i see quite a few high end hi fi ads on there and ive yet to see a genuine one. In fact, i dont even bother to go onto the site any more.

  3. Are ye implying that these ads are somehow dishonest? What about the £2000 I just sent a long lost relative in Lagos? She's dying soon she said and is leaving me half a million in inheritance? Do you think I could have been the victim of some sort of scam? She seemed so nice....

  4. You should have saved the 2 grand and bought a helmet for every day of the week instead. Welcome by the way, just spotted you joined as I haven't been in here lately.

  9. haha i saw this and emailed the guy wanting to come see it as i have alot of "mates" who live round there. Figured either we would get to meet a scum bag OR i would bag a cheap 998!! ;-)

    No reply though!:frown:

  10. The ad was taken off on Sunday i think, I saw that also ad saw straight away that was not in the UK.

My mate had his ebay account hijacked and someone was selling a Audi Q7 cheap under his name/profile and he had 40 plus messages for the car. He replied to about half of them its a scam and to report it which they did, ebay contacted my mate and told him to change his password.

  11. My friend was scammed through ebay a couple of years ago. He sold a Mac via an auction, the winning bidder paid by paypal and offered to come and collect it straight away. Turned up within 30 minutes and took the computer... when he got back to his computer there was an email from paypal saying the payment was fraudulent and the money was reversed... no computer, no money.

    Bastards!

  12. Do log book loans show up on an HPI check?

  13. Nope!

  14. As nick said no. But it's a conditional no.
Some of the more reputable lenders can add it to the hpi register but legally they do not have to do it.
There is loads of information about this on the web

  15. only 20K to get rid of the missus? sounds like a bargain to me!

  16. When I was selling my Africa Twin I had an email from a lady that work for a refinery in Ellsmere Port, she wanted to know a bit more about the bike. I emailed her back with a little more detail, she then said it was just what she was looking for and was buying it for her cousin. She asked where the bike was and would send a courier down to pick it up once the funds had cleared, oh yes she wanted to pay via pay pal because it was secure, but would pay the fees too! I emailed her back say Cash on Collection as I was suspicious of someone who wanted to buy my bike without seeing it. Surprise Surprise - I never had a response, I rang the refinery company up the next day and asked to speak to this lady, they had never heard of her!
