Hi All , What rules apply here . What form should the nod take ? e.g. just a straight forward nod or one at a slight angle ? Who or what size 2 wheeler do we nod to ? Should we ignore the little peds or scooters ? or veiw them all as fellow 2 wheelers ? Then there are the manic "L" plate bikers that nearly fall off when you acknowlwdge then . Thoughts/observatios/rules please . Do 1 type of bikers ignore other types , eg Cruiser types vs Sport bikes .
For me, nod at angle, easier with my dodgy neck! Nod at any biker, scooters too, tbough they often dont reciprocate. Cyclists too. Figure 2 wheeled camaraderie should be encouraged. I ride cycles on and off road, we need all the support we can get. Its a small thing, easy to do and polite and friendly. I know some joke about nodding dogs, and some are far to absorbed in their riding to want to bother.
Apparently most bikers lean slightly forward when they nod their head. I must say I'm inclined to agree.
I like to get the Palm of the hand. Sometimes hard to see a nod. But agree anybody on 2 wheels:smile:
don't waste your time in London and outskirts - very rarely reciprocated whatever bike. I wait to be nodded at on these occasions and of course return it.
Top of helmet at 2 o'clock position and head turned 45 deg toward 'nod-ee'. Single, sharp nod. Don't nod at scooters or mopeds but DO nod at anything 'proper' bike shaped - except for twats on cruisers wearing piss pot helmets.
