Frame Question.

  1. Which of the 748 - 998 models had the frame with the deep V allowing for the deep air box?
    I know the 748R did,
    Any others?

    Cheers

  2. 2001 996R and 2002 998R share the same frame part number which is different from the 2002 998S. Both the 996R and 998R frames look extremely like the 2000 748RS frame which only has the last 2 digits of the part number that's different. I'm guessing also identicle to the 748R. Andy

  3. Now there's an answer you couldn't just make up.

  4. Will a 998 Zorst match up to a 999 heads?

  5. yes same 4 bolt testastretta engine

  6. Not quite, the coil mounts are in a different location on the 748R frame compared to the 996R/998R

  7. I have both a 748R frame and a 998 frame as "spares" and from looking at them they are identical apart, as already noted the coil mountings are in a different position, but that is the only difference and it wouldn't take much to swap the coil mounts around.

The only one that was a bit different was the 748RS which had lighter grade tubing.

  8. whats your plan…..

  9. I have got my mitts on a 748R frame.
Not sure what do do with it.
Poss build No3. I'd like to keep the original 916 shape throughout this time,so poss a 999S deep sumper engine (guessing it will go), 998S/R zorst(£££), not sure about about the rest yet.
    Loom?
    Ecu?
    Dash?

    Any tips welcome...:upyeah:

  10. hmmm………..999/998 is an easier fix using pretty much standard parts….of course the big boys would go for a 1198 engine and be done with it!!!

  11. How about a 916/996 with 54mm 748R injectors for a change? I have seen that done to great effect on a race bike.

  12. I've got a complete 1098 loom you can have...

  13. Too much for the real world surely! ;)

  14. you could always get one of those fan dangled rotational infinately variable motionometers…………..

  15. 999s motor and 748R frame = homemade 996R. good for 150bhp well set up
