Brought a couple of company 14 touring jackets and trousers for me and the mrs. Though does the job good enough in dry weather not impressed with performance in the rain, no waterproof pockets and stuff can and does get wet, though the main part keeps you dryish they hold water, only had them since Nov last year and already they look 12 mths old. Fact that they are Ducati Branded thought I'd be buying the best gear.....not in this case. What's happened to Dainese ?
Kel, I don't quite see the point of your last comment as the Ducati Company 14 jacket isn't manufactured by Dianese. Not totally sure but I think it is only the Corse line of fabric kit that is. In most fabric jackets, unless specified, external pockets are not usually waterproof. If you wade through all the Blurb attached to the Dianese jackets it highlights just that fact. There is a thread on this forum about fabric jackets which might be worth a read. Andy
That's just my point Andy, company 14 jackets aren't manufactured by Dainese anymore there by "Rev it" and not up to the same quality as Dainese. Seems Ducati branded have opted for a cheaper alternative to the touring line though they do still use dainese as you say for the leather line and such. You'd pay from 450 to 700 for a dainese touring jacket and if it has ducati branding on it maybe more. I paid around 350 for mine I guess you get what you pay for, though I like the styling and it's comfortable doesn't hold the rain off like gore tex. Cheers I'll look up that thread.
I have the Ducati Strada 13' jacket and pants. Also made by Revit. Very happy with this set! And nothing have come loose yet (unlike a button on my Ducati Dainese leather jacket..). The colour and finish is also as new after nearly 10000km witch includes 4000km in hot sun on a europe road trip the rest in a Norwegian summer with all sorts of weather! Revit make a lot of expensive and technical bikers gear, not as well knowed as Dainese, but the quality is up there..
I have to say that the previous Dainese stuff was not that much better. I bought a Hypermotard jacket - rrp nearly £300 - and it's not even waterproof! Luckily I only paid £80 for it on ebay and I still wear it as it's a great summer jacket but pretty useless otherwise.
I worked for J&S motorcycle accessories for a couple of years and have to say, you pay a lot for the Dainese name. It's off the peg stuff really aint worth all the hype. Even getting things at trade prices i still didn't buy it. I bought some cheapish IXS stuff and it's got to be 16 years old now and has only been leaking a little through the sleeves the last 12 months or so. The waterproof outside pockets are still just that and I really can't complain at all about it. Oh, and i use my bike everyday, all weather and always have. It's only working in the trade can you really see what's good and what's not. Wish i still worked there cos i really need new gear for next winter. It's good to talk, and that's the best way to get real opinions. We all know Ducatis don't like water, so why would their jackets be any different anyway?
I use Richa Rain Warrior top & bottoms - they're great. Goes on over textiles, even with the torrential rain we're all having, Ive been bone dry when I get in the door.
My mate bought himself and his wife Rev-It textile suits and really done his home work....or so he thought before parting with his hard earned cash. His textiles really became grimy and in no time at all leaked. His wife's have faired better but she rides pillion so some of the weather stays off her. When we were last out together and got caught in some bad weather he was amazed my Dainese textiles had kept me totally dry and seriously p...sed off our other mate was totally dry to in his Triumph textiles. One unhappy chappy.
